University Outreach at the University of Oklahoma has been dedicated to providing programs for mature adults for some three decades. Initially, these programs took the form of travel study opportunities and Elderhostel courses. In the 1980s, University Outreach dedicated a unit, which became Senior Adult Services (SAS).

What began as a vision for Senior Adult Services (SAS) since its inception in the 1980's at University of Oklahoma Outreach, resulted in not only a generous grant but also a new name.

SAS became one of the 93 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes (OLLI) nationwide. For the mature learning community of Oklahoma, OLLI is a tremendous opportunity to participate in a wider variety of programs and activities, all of which are taught University faculty and trusted community members.

In the summer of 2006, SAS received a generous grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation in California to become one of 100 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes in America.

For SAS, the grant will allow the program to do more of what it does best - serve the seniors of Oklahoma.

To those of you who have been a part of SAS over the years, we thank you and we look forward to offering you more of the programs you have come to enjoy. To those new members of OLLI, we welcome you to our programs and we hope that you will enjoy participating as much as we enjoy offering them to you.
